About the mini polo website

Aims

This website is aimed at young mini polo players and their teachers or coaches.

Some players may be exploring mini polo as part of the National Plan for Teaching Swimming (2007). These players will already have a solid foundation of swimming strokes and skills, which can be adapted and extended for water polo. Often they may be taught by swimming teachers, who may have minimal experience of water polo.

Other players may be taking part in mini polo alongside a learn to swim scheme. Mini polo is often a way into the water for some children. For these players, adaptions may be required to allow for shallow water and rudimentary stroke technique.

It is our intention that stroke and skill descriptions should follow national guidelines for core skills. Any gaps are filled in using our own experiences or those of people using this site. Some coaches may teach different variations of these strokes and skills. We have provided a discussion forum where these matters can be aired.
